Join the largest U.S. film festival dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion of people with disabilities in Los Angeles, May 4-5, 2024
Los Angeles, CA — The highly anticipated ReelAbilities Film Festival Los Angeles is back for its sixth consecutive year! Set to take place on May 4th and 5th, 2024, at Downtown LA’s iconic California Plaza, this year's festival promises two days filled with captivating films, insightful conversations, and a celebration of diversity and inclusion.
With eight short films and six features screening throughout the weekend, this festival provides a window into the lives and experiences of individuals with disabilities. Attendees are invited to explore, embrace, and celebrate the rich diversity of our shared human experience through engaging panel discussions and Q&A sessions featuring distinguished guests from both the disability community and the entertainment industry.
The festival is produced by the City of Los Angeles Department on Disability in collaboration with ReelAbilities International and Grand Performances.
“As we mark the 6th year of the ReelAbilities Film Festival: Los Angeles, we're thrilled to continue celebrating the extraordinary talents and stories evolving within disability communities,” said Stephen David Simon, Executive Director of the City of Los Angeles Department on Disability. “Through the power of film, we're challenging perceptions, fostering inclusivity, and igniting meaningful conversations that transcend barriers. Together with our esteemed partners, we stand united to embrace true diversity, inclusion and access.”
The Department on Disability offers ASL (American Sign Language) interpretation and CART (Communication Access Real-time Translation) services for introductions, post-screening conversations, and non-film programming. Films are presented with Open Captions (OC). Other accommodations include: Audio Description (AD) headsets, a quiet room, noise canceling headphones, an accessibility table, and volunteers to offer assistance at different locations throughout the venue.
