Maple Block Meat, a New BBQ Concept, Now Open at GCM

Maple Block Meat Co. proudly announces the opening of its second location at Grand Central Market. Established by two passionate LA natives, Daniel Weinstock and Mike Garrett, Maple Block's culinary journey began in their flagship spot in Culver City. Now, it ventures into the heart of DTLA.

Situated in the beer garden space at GCM, Maple Block is set to delight food enthusiasts with a commitment to honoring the age-old barbecue tradition. Using local hardwood to smoke their meats to perfection, the team complements the flavors with an array of delectable house-made sides and sauces that promise to make every bite a moment to savor.

For co-owner Mike Garrett, this new venture holds a special place in his heart as he reminisces about his childhood days spent with family at a classic neighborhood rib joint in the Valley. Those memories, filled with friendly staff, happy customers, and the irresistible aroma of barbecue, have inspired him to recreate that experience and elevate it to new heights. Having co-created and operated seven successful restaurants across LA, he firmly believes that downtown is the perfect location as the city and the hospitality industry embark on a new resurgence.

Co-owner Daniel Weinstock, fueled by his childhood experiences of building wood-burning smokers with his dad and honing his culinary skills as a sous chef at Spago Beverly Hills, is dedicated to creating an authentic and unpretentious dining experience. From carefully trimmed briskets smoked for 12-14 hours over peach wood to fresh sides and house-made pickles, every element reflects their passion for the craft of barbecue.

The menu at the new GCM location boasts favorites from the Culver City spot, such as Hot-Honey Glazed Baby Back Ribs, The Block Burger, Chopped Pork Sandwich, Signature Smoked Wings, slow-smoked Tri-Tip, and fresh protein-based salads. And let's not forget their famous smoked brisket, available exclusively on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays until it sells out.

But that's not all! Maple Block Meat Co. is introducing exclusive menu items like "Maple Block Chicken," specially crafted for the Grand Central Market location. Dishes like the Cali Wrap, featuring MBC's special charcoal-grilled Chicken, slaw, fries, aji Verde, and mojo de ajo-sauces, along with greens wrap and the MBC bowl, are set to captivate taste buds with a symphony of flavors.

To complement the dining experience, Maple Block at Grand Central Market is taking on the atmosphere of a delightful Beer & Wine Garden, boasting an extensive selection of draft beers and refreshing wines. And for those who want to indulge in some pre-game delights before heading to a Dodgers match, Pit Master Rudy Suazo has curated a special bar snack menu, including loaded brisket fries, hotdogs, soft pretzels with house-made mustard, and more.

After eight successful years in Culver City, Maple Block Meat Co. is thrilled to be a part of the vibrant downtown community. Their Grand Central Market location is a celebration of classic barbecue.

Doors will be open daily from 11 AM to 9 PM, with extended hours on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 AM to 9 PM.
